Eulogies Straight From the White House For Senator Edward Kennedy

Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy served as a senator from Massachusetts for forty seven years. In addition to his long years of service to his country, he was also known as one of the heirs to the Kennedy legacy. He struggled with his health for the past several years, and he finally succumbed to a malignant brain tumor. With his passing, the Kennedy era came to an end. ifb senator wss 8 kg

Senator Kennedy’s funeral was held on August 29, 2009, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica in Roxbury, Massachusetts. There were a number of high profile political figures in attendance, including President Barack Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden, former presidents George Bush, Bill Clinton, and Jimmy Carter, and many current and former members of congress. President Obama himself delivered the eulogy for Senator Kennedy.

President Obama spoke of Kennedy’s years of work in the senate. He called him a “lion of the United States Senate” and discussed the many laws and pieces of legislation Senator Kennedy worked on. He was involved writing over three hundred laws over the years and worked on hundreds of others.

The President also reminded those in attendance of Kennedy’s role as a family man. He often worked under a spotlight, and his family very rarely had the privacy that most families enjoy. Senator Kennedy’s life was especially tragic. He struggled through the loss of four of his siblings and most recently lost his sister Eunice. Three of his nephews died, and two of his own children fought with cancer. Through all of this, he was under the public eye, and through all of it, he was strong, gentle, and caring. He helped guide his family through all of these tragedies and continued to work for the American people while doing so.
